In the 3 years we have had this cat we have never seen her play like this! We keep joking that our actual cat was abducted by aliens. I HIGHLY recommend Taste of the Wild Rocky Mountain Feline Formula – Roasted Venison & Smoked Salmon. My cat loves it and there has been such a big jump in her energy levels. Thanks to the other viewpoint members for the positive recommendations on this food, you all are correct, it’s great!

My boy has been eating Taste of the Wild- “Rocky Mountain Formula” for about ten months now and I am very satisfied. Many people solve the dry-versus-wet-food dilemma by feeding their cat a mixture of both. Perhaps a morning meal of wet food and a dinner of kibble, or the reverse. Whatever you decide, however, always check the ingredients of your cat’s food and choose only those with a high-quality, meat-based protein as the top ingredient. When selecting a premium dry food, it’s important to select one that contains essential nutrients to meet your cat’s needs.

We adopted two 5 month old sisters and the organization recommended TOTW. Though, it is a switch over situation as well from the grain based food they were being fed. I have another full grown cat that likes to be outdoors all the time and she eats natural grass. So, am wondering about the comments about bloody stools and TOTW.

I haven’t even opened the second bag yet, and it looks like it’s gonna go to waste. The cats were not interested in the food, it sat for several days. Lastly, it would be great to have a canned version of Prey as well. Taste of the Wild is grain-free, has one of the higher protein contents on the market, and has fruits and vegetables in it to mimic what a cat would eat in nature. Since I’ve been feeding it to my cat, I’ve noticed that her coat is visibly shinier, she sheds less, and she poops less than with the Purina food I was feeding her before. She also eats less of this in a serving because it’s higher quality, so the bag lasts longer. The cat seems to like the taste , and I really like the fact that it’s not much more expensive than the far-lower quality grocery store brands. Flavor Selection They only make two flavors, but my cat has been crazy about both, so I don’t need more selection than that.

I read about dogs having allergic reactions to TOTW dry food too so it can’t be that uncommon in cats. Diamond and Taste of the Wild have seen several recall notices for their foods, including their cat food ranges. It’s animal-based, which means it’s also species-appropriate and provides a great source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. As I’ve already mentioned, there’s a good deal of difference between the wet and dry varieties of Taste of the Wild recipes.

The ingredients in this food are highly digestible and offer a great taste that appeals to my cats. It contains all the essential elements needed for a healthy cat diet and is AAFCO approved. Quality of Ingredients The quality of ingredients in this cat food is very good. There are four animal proteins and no animal by-products. There are vegetables, berries and all the vitamins and minerals cats need to maintain good health.

Aging cats may suffer from sensitive or decaying teeth, while many senior cats need to increase their caloric intake because they are less able to benefit from the calories they eat. We give Taste of the Wild cat food a rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars. Coons, since they need the extra protein to ensure their larger muscle mass is taken care of well as they age. They LOVE it and both are super lean and their muscles are well defined, as they should be. There’s plenty of reviews out there but let’s start with what cat owners like. Taste of the Wild has one major recall that occurred in 2012 after several units tested positive for salmonella.

I gave my cat, Bishop, a few pieces at first as treats and he wolfed them down super quickly. He is not crazy about his regular dry food that we were giving him but whenever we mix Taste of the Wild in with his normal food he will pick the pieces out of the rest of the dry food. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is the price, which is a bit steep for me.

This Turkey can provide high-quality protein and fat to a cat and is a reliable source. We strongly recommend that you be vigilant of any future recalls from Taste of the Wild or any other pet food brand to ensure that your pets remain safe and healthy. We rescued a stray male with lots of allergy issues. We went to the expense of having him allergy tested, although we knew it wasn’t a certainty the tests would actually determine his allergies. However we were lucky, the tests did help identify his allergies, mostly food related. We then checked out almost all the premium cat food brands looking for the ones he could tolerate.

The primary issue is the inclusion of lentils as the second ingredient which means this diet has more carbohydrates than we’d want to see. Still, if you’re looking for a very specific type of limited ingredient diet at an excellent price this might make the most sense to you. Taste of the Wild notes that this recipe has “55% of its protein from natural beef and 43% from wholesome lentils” which an important distinction.

But to get a full picture of recalls it’s worth looking at the recall history for not only Taste of the Wild but also the parent company behind the brand, Diamond Pet Food. While two types of broth in the first 5 ingredients is a bit much, it’s moves like this that allow Taste of the Wild to keep the overall price down. Again, it’s still species-appropriate at least to a degree. We see lentils showing up again but this time in ingredient number 5.

Taste of the Wild’s dry cat food range is very small, but of the two recipes within it, our favorite is Rocky Mountain Feline Formula. Canola Oil isn’t a common addition to pet food recipes but does see some use by brands like Taste of the Wild. Canola Oil is a vegetable oil and can be used as a source of fat. Canola Oil is often used in pet food recipes to help bind the food together in a consistent texture. Regardless of your opinion, these grain ingredients can provide a mix of carbohydrates, plant-based protein, fiber, and select vitamins and minerals.
