Campylobacter are bacteria that can make people and animals sick with a disease called campylobacteriosis. Our 41/2 year old hound tested positive for Lyme before he was 2 and the vet didn’t give him antibiotics and said they would wait until he showed symptoms well when he started showing symptoms it was too late, he wouldn’t eat throwing up and lethargic. I am a little angry at the vet for not giving him antibiotics when he tested positive and for not monitoring his kidney function because waiting to see symptoms I feel like it caused him to loose his life. I would suggest to anyone whose animal tested positive for Lyme to insist on the vet checking their kidney function and putting them on antibiotics immediately.

People most commonly get psittacosis after exposure to pet birds, like parrots and cockatiels, and poultry, like turkeys or ducks.
